Today more than ever people are shopping on the internet for everything from groceries to furniture. During this worrisome time in our world, many choose to stay at home and order on-line versus going to stores. You can get everything you could possibly want without leaving the comfort of your home.
Shopping on the internet can be challenging with so many web-sites. It is important to shop around for the best prices, selection, etc.
Having a web-site myself selling lamps, I often check out the competition, although our designs are unique to us as we manufacture our lamps.
This brings me to an example of why it’s important check around on the internet. We sell a great looking gentleman golfer lamp therefore I like to see what’s available that is similar to our lamp. Recently I saw four different sites selling the same golfer lamp (not our lamp). What was shocking to me was the prices. They ranged from $272.00 to a whopping $639.00. This is ludicrous for the same item.
Another important thing you should look for on the internet, is the size of the item. Again due to my interest in lamps, I often see a nice looking lamp but when I click on it, the size is not what I expected. They are usually shorter and this was not evident in the picture.
There are many different styles of lamps available today to fit all budgets. From contemporary to coastal to traditional to whimsical, there’s something for everyone. Whether you’re shopping on the internet or in a store the choices are endless. While the primary reason for a lamp is to provide light, your personal style and home design are important also. A great looking lamp can add life to an otherwise dull area.
Firstly, it’s good to have an idea of what type of lamp you’re looking for, such as a floor lamp or table lamp. Where you are going to place the lamp and how much light you need will give you a good indication of the type you desire. For example, a floor lamp works well by a favorite reading chair while table lamps are suited to end tables by the sofa or nightstands in your bedroom. Of course, floor lamps can also be used in those areas. Floor lamps usually take up less room making them suitable in small spaces.
Table lamps come in many heights. I have seen lamps on end tables and nightstands that to me are too short. Of course, you don’t want to be looking into a bulb while watching TV on the sofa or reading in bed. Put one of your existing lamps on the table on which you are going to put the new lamp and this will help you to decide whether you need a taller, shorter, wider table lamp.
As we are a lamp manufacturer, we have the capability of making many of our lamps a few inches taller or shorter for our customers, while maintaining the proportionality of the lamp.
Matching lamps in a room is not necessary. In fact, different lamps can add interest to a room but they should have some common elements such as height, color, lampshade style, or material. This will let the lamps be complimentary and not look mismatched.
